The 2025 vintage presented a character in line with recent years: intricate and capricious. The result, however, is a harvest we are genuinely excited about. It was an excellent year for our Pinot Nero, Merlot, and Cabernet. The Vernaccia, true to its delicate nature, was challenged by September rains, requiring strict selection in the vineyards. Our Sangiovese was the most affected, but we were able to bring home a strict selection of the very best.
Yet, the year brings its own rewards. After a hiatus of several years, Evoè, our most experimental Vernaccia with long skin contact, is in the making. Currently, still on the skins, but the initial tastings show great promise. We will wait patiently until Easter to rack it, allowing it the time it needs to reveal its full potential.
There is more good news: the vines from where we picked the Pinot Nero, Merlot and Sangiovese for our Rosato Ceraso were truly beautiful, and the final blend, now in its early development, is decidedly pretty.
A Closer Look at the Season
The year began with a mild winter, free of frosts. A warm, rainy spring kept us busy in the vineyards, but it allowed us the crucial window to protect the vines, and we encountered no significant health issues.

Summer was, on the whole, very good. An intensely hot June gave way to a seasonable July and a beautiful August. The vines never suffered from hydric stress, as the spring rains had built up ample water reserves in the soils.

Our primary challenge was the grapevine moth, a particular pest for our delicate Vernaccia. While infestations required constant vigilance, we succeeded in keeping them under control.
By August, the clusters were beautiful, and our expectations were high as we thinned the vines. The harvest began at the end of the month, slightly ahead of schedule, starting with a Pinot Nero that has truly impressed us. We are very satisfied with the quality in the cellar.
