Simply charming: a fresh wind blowing over the woods of San Gimignano, the towers caressed by the last rays of the sunset, a journey of taste back in time through old vintages, while darkness descended, elegant, on the hills all around. This was our Midsummer Event 2016.
Around 9 pm the sun went down: a mystical experience, as Walter, the Winemaker, WW, in fact, defined it, began and delighted all attending winelovers. He opened a magnum of Vernaccia di San Gimignano Evoè 2006: an outstanding white wine, matured on the skins for three months, with a lingering taste, aggressive, reactive.
On we go: WW served three mysterious vintages of Vernaccia di San Gimignano Vigna Santa Margherita, the first vineyard cultivated by Gianni Panizzi: positive impressions and surprise on how well this wine ages in the bottle to four, eight, twelve years. The mistery is reveales: the vintages are the years of the Olympic Games since Rio 2016 is about to start.
Night falls. One last photo to the former mayor of San Gimignano's twin town Meersburg in Germany, a long-course friend of Panizzi's. The immediately response is triggered: the Italian flag.
That's it: we drank well, we ate well. Thank you all and see you next year!
