A clear calling: working the land, studying it, knowing it in depth. Lorenzo Moschini, a graduate in environmental sciences, puts nature first (or almost). Let's get to know him better.

What's your job at Panizzi?
I am a tractor driver and cellar help, I work both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
What is the thing that those who do your job cannot absolutely lack?
A radio on my tractor, which unfortunately I do not have. What are we going to do about it, boss?
What do you like the most about your work?
Being in the open air, undoubtably. Every day is different and special. If I have to mention a specific time of the year, my favourite time is not the harvest, which is stressful and cofusing. So I choose pruning, even if the weather is cold, because it is a quieter, less stressful moment and the choices I make require calm, tranquility and reflection. And it is a good thing, since they determine the quality of wine in the long run.
What did you do before working at Panizzi?
I studied, I graduated in forestry in Florence and then I started working here. Soil and nature are my vocation.
What do you do in your free time? What are your passions?
I would like to dedicate myself to cultivation and gardening, but duty also calls me! In my spare time I take care of my little children!
What is your favorite Panizzi wine?
My favorite wine has changed over time. The Vernaccia Riserva, delicious and special, used to be my very favourite but over time I started to prefer the Vernaccia green label, simpler and more immediate. Among the red wines, I have no doubts: Folgóre.
What is your favorite place at Panizzi?
More than one. If I have to name one place, I will go for the farm in Santa Margherita, and in particular the covered loggia facing the forest of San Gimignano and the hill, very relaxing.
What is your favorite place in San Gimignano?
The whole city of San Gimignano. Without distinction!
