The incoming weekend is full of events for us. Now that the rain has been feft behind, spring is finally ready to burst out and, with it, our desire to get going and promote our beloved denomination, our excellent products, our ties and our values. The order is not accidental: these are the central themes of the upcoming events we are attending. Here they are summarized. Ready to live them with us?
The denomination: 50 years of Vernaccia di San Gimignano
Saturday, May 7 we celebrate at home: a triple event organized by the Consorzio Vernaccia di San Gimignano celebrates the 50th anniversary of our denomination with a conference, an exhibition and a twinning/meeting with the other Vernaccias of Italy. It starts at 9:30 am at Teatro dei Leggieri, Piazza del Duomo (in San Gimignano of course) with a conference entitled "A Hundred Years", where the future of our beloved denomintion will be discussed. Among the guests, Italian Minister of Agriculture Maurizio Martina. At 4 pm the twinning of the three Vernaccia's of Italy will be celebrated: San Gimignano, Oristano and Serrapetrona wines will be tasted in the presence of the Presidents of the Chamber of Commerce of each territory. Afterwards, at 4:30 pm, there will the an exhibition opening: the exhibition, organized by the Consortium in collaboration with Associazione Strada del Vino of San Gimignano, will feature images celebrating 750 years of Vernaccia-making. Panizzi will be in the front row: we made the history of Vernaccia di San Gimignano a little bit, so we cannot miss it. All details on the Facebook page of the Consortium.
Excellence: the best of Panizzi at DOCG Wine Experience
Not even the time to metabolize and we set off to Padua to attend the fifth edition of DOCG Wine Experience, organized by AIS Veneto at the Abbey of Praglia in Teolo (PD), an incredible Benedictine monastery of the XI century immersed in the Park of the Euganean Hills. The date is set for Sunday, May 8th, 2016 from 10 am to 8 pm. More than 2,000 visitors attended last year and at least as many are expected this year. Here are some more figures: 350 labels, for over 100 wineries, representing 74 Italian DOCG senominations; a team of 146 AIS Veneto sommeliers and 46 volunteers, at the service of all wine lovers for an exciting cultural journey.
Ties and values: support for the Francesca Pecorari Foundation
Finally, on May 9, 2016 at 14.30 we will be alongside our winemakers friends of Lis Neris for an event in favor of the Francesca Pecorari Foundation, that has been committed for fourteen years to supporting children in need around the world. From 4,30 pm the event will feature an open wine tasting with ten winemakers of excellence, presenting their products, accompanied by Friulian food specialties. The event will be held at the winery in San Lorenzo Isontino (GO).
