The 2019 harvest, our number 31, is coming soom and the forecasts are very positive.
The weather occured in San Gimignano in the months of April and May was cold and rainy and it caused the vegetative evolution of our vernaccia grapes to slow a little. But between July and August things have changed, and for the best.
September is now absolutely perfect: chilly in the morning and evening, very warm during the day, with high average temperatures in spite of the forecasts. We just have to wait for the optimal maturation of our grapes and we are going to begin our 2019 harvest.
Winemaker Walter Sovran is optimistic: "We are almost there and wh have very high hopesfor the final result! We are saving our energy for the next few days."
The Consorzium of Vernaccia di San Gimignano is positive about this year's harvest: the weather conditions detail that they provide is perfectly mirrored in our production. In terms of quantity of the grapes, it is on average for 2019, slightly higher than in 2018, for a wine production that will be about 5% higher than last year, in line with the rest of Tuscany.
Stay tuned for more!
