Not only tastings at Larniano: this small village of medieval origin, which houses part of the Panizzi vineyards, is rich in history.
Larniano, known as Lariniano during Middle Ages, is documented in historical sources starting with the 10th century; the village includes the Villa di Larniano, dating back to the 11th-12th century (located along the Via Francigena and, at that time, functioned as guard post and toll point for the the viandanti) and the Torre di Larniano, a complex of buildings including the small church of San Martino and the imposing medieval tower from which it takes its name. It is thought that this tower, very similar to that of the villa, was built later on due to a curious circumstance: it is in fact in perfect alignment with the Torre di Buonriposo and with the Torre Grossa di San Gimignano (14th century about). It is therefore assumed that the Larniano and Buonriposo towers were built in order to better control the territory during the years of the struggles between the Sienese and Florentines.

For those who choose to stay in the ancient farmhouses or in the rooms inside the Tower, Larniano is an excellent starting point for excursions to San Gimignano, Siena and Florence, or for historical-naturalistic itineraries towards the Crete Senesi, the Val d'Orcia , Pienza, Montepulciano and Montalcino.
From this small village in the heart of Tuscany you can also easily reach Volterra, Lucca or Pisa; the nearest beaches are those of the Etruscan Coast, about 1 hour and 30 minutes by car.
